About the Artist, Johann Koch
Born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1948, Johann Koch was exposed to art from an early age. Spending holidays in the African bush ignited a passion for the flora and fauna of Africa, leading him to reside in the northern Bushveld of South Africa for many years in order to be close to his subject. Koch moved to George in the pictures Garden Route of the Western Cape.
His paintings predominantly depict South African landscapes, with travels to places such as the Okavango Delta, Savuti and other national parks and wildlife areas in Southern Africa.
Johann’s strength lies in his ability to capture the essence of the bush. Few artists possess his skill in portraying the African skies and landscape.
Since 1999, his artwork has been showcased in the American market and is represented by several galleries in the United States. Nature and wildlife enthusiasts worldwide collect and appreciate his paintings.
Johann frequently embarks on painting and photographic safaris into surrounding areas, including Botswana (Okavango Delta, Moremi, Savuti and Chobe), as well as the Kruger National Park and other game and nature reserves. His art appears in collections worldwide and has been exhibited in the USA, Germany, and South Africa.
His rare talent lies in replicating the majesty of the African skies on canvas, preserving the moment for generations to come, making him one of the most exceptional artists of our time.
